Why do we need it?

Illustration of rush hour traffic piling up.Traffic congestion is an indisputable quality of life issue for residents and employers throughout the Tri-County region. While there have been decades of talk and multiple studies about how best to address the growing congestion problem, no substantive action has been taken. At the same time, the number of residents and workers in the area has continued to grow, resulting in spreading and worsening congestion along area roads.

Inaction is no longer an option.

The Tri-County Access Project is a comprehensive study that will rely upon information, stakeholder involvement and public input to arrive at a fiscally-responsible course of action to meet the transportation needs of Cook, Lake and McHenry counties. Ultimately, the project will ensure that the region moves forward in a manner that is good for families, good for job-creators and good for the environment and character of our communities.
